We are all so impressed with the students today. This morning, they each gave a presentation based on their scientific studies and findings while on board, covering an intense array of subjects including environmental issues and global warming, as well as details regarding water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and waste management on the expedition ship. They also presented a very detailed presentation on the wildlife observed, including whales, birds and seals, various viewing perspectives, and chances of accuracy.
All of the students did a fantastic job, and video footage of their presentations will be available soon.
After lunch, we gathered in the library to view a video of the traverse Niall put together, and participate in a discussion about the expedition our traverse party completed. Everyone had many questions, and we were able to see actual photographs of the spooky crevasse Charlie fell into, taken from his camera while he was in the depths.
Then shortly, we headed downstairs to the meeting room for a summary slide show by the expedition staff members of everyone on board, and all the adventures we’ve had.
Tonight was the Captain’s Dinner, and among other toasts, the students personally thanked the captain and his crew, which was very touching.
Later, the dinner developed into a great evening. To add to the evening, the American film crew invited many of us to celebrated Thanksgiving with a bottle of Champagne. We’re nearing the end of our expedition now, and today was a fantastic finale!
