TRAVERSE TEAM NEWS
As for the traverse team
Their day was very challenging. We spoke to Pat at 8pm, and they are
currently camping near the western edge of the Crean Glacier. They
are 18 kilometres from where we are waiting in the ship, and this is
just under half way through their traverse. They suffered severe winds
all day, and very little visibility. Just as they set out from camp,
they encountered mist and cornices, which delayed them by at least 6
hours.
They were pelted by the weather snow and icy hail all day. In spite
of the conditions, everyone on the traverse team is in great form. Just
extremely tired. They will set out again in the morning, and they hope
to reach us in Fortuna Bay by 5.30 pm tomorrow. We just cannot wait to
see them and welcome them back on the ship. We will keep you posted, so
please check back!
And P.S. Pat sends his love to everyone.
