A call was just received confirming the teams arrival at the South Pole at 4.30 approx. Chilean time.

2008 is the Centenary year in which Shackleton set-out to reach the pole on the Nimrod. He got to within striking distance when they reached their furthest southern point 150 km from the pole. At that time, this was the closest anybody had got to the south pole. Pat and his team reached Shackleton’s furthest south on the 1st January, 2008.
