I was honoured to be invited to the Echo Ladies All Star Awards in Cork today at the Rochestown Park hotel and pay tribute to Dr Clare O Leary my team mate and deputy Leader of our Beyond Endurance expedition. She had received an award for High Achievement and also became the Cork Lady sport star person of the month for January 2008. She now goes forward to Cork Ladies sport star of the year for 2008.
I’d also like to thank the Echo, Rochestown Park Hotel and Newbridge Silver Ware for a great day out and for honouring our 12 monthly ladies winners from Cork. I was also honoured to received a special presentation from them at the Ladies Sport Stars awards. I was indeed on this occasion the odd man out amongst Cork’s great sporting ladies talent.
Jassica Scannell received Sports star of the year for her basketball achievements for 2007. While Sport star-of –The year, Hall Of Fame, went to Noelle Feeney. To Jessica, Noelle and all the other winners of the Echo Ladies Sport Star Awards… well done and keep up the good work all your achievements. It was also great to catch up with another lady that I admire, Mary Davis from Special Olympics Ireland, who was the guest speaker at the event.
