This is always the part of my expeditions I dislike. Airports and flights.
To come home we have to go through , 5 airports, travel 000’s miles, fly in 5 different aircraft’s and that’s outside our 2 other flights from the South Pole.
The hardest part of these journey’s will be sleep deprivation. All the team are already suffering from exhaustion.
High and exhausted;
We are now in a state of elation and high on adrenaline. We are excited at the thoughts of home after our successful expedition. Experience has shown me that next week we will collapse of exhaustion after all the hype dies down. For now I’m totally enjoying ever second of our success and I’m in the surreal world of euphoria.
We arrived off the ice 6am on the 15th and I still havn’t had the chance to sleep in a bed. I have been constantly on the go from the time we have come off the ice.
All of our gear had to be sorted for shipping home. We had to organised change of tickets with our travel agent Platinum travel. And had a celebration dinner in Punta Arenas all on the 15th. So I’ve had no sleep or rest yet, other then a cat nap on flights.
