A bad sastrugi day

I really hate sastrugi, we have had a hard day on the ice today and the main reason is the cold which shot down to our coldest yet -37 degrees c and that with sastrugi we couldn’t avoid, really put us under pressure.

I started pulling my half empty sled again today for 4 hours, the pain was terrible. Clare, Shaun and Jon are still continuing to help carry half my weight. Over the next few days I should be back to pulling my full weight. My back is getting a little better and the pain has eased substantially . The team are really feeling the strain at the moment and no matter what happens, pain or no pain I have to get back to pulling a full sled again. I’m thanking my lucky star, that this didn’t happen earlier with heavier sleds or Clare, Shaun and Jon would not have been able to help.

Forecast tomorrow not great…

Camp Sara Boneham For Shaun

For all the help and care she has given our family and especially my dad over the last few years.. To a special lady. Shaun
