Nomads in a desert of ice;
Relaxed after our days rest, were on the move again. I feel like a nomad in the desert of white cold ice. Our little homes are dismantled each morning. The thin skin of flimsy man made material, which protects us from the brutality of the Antarctic weather is carefully packed away into our sleds, 8 foot long by 4 foot wide our Hillberg red tents are carefully tied down in our sleds and ready for a fast erection this evening. We have erecting the tents in the evening down to a fine art. Three and a half minutes and our tiny barrel tent is ready to live in. A refuge from the icy cold winds and sub zero temperatures of this desolate place.
We had a great day today, we skied 27.9 km, our best yet. The weather and conditions were kind only -13 degree’s, blue sky and low winds. We are all delighted with our progress so far. The nomads rest tonight and will sleep well and be ready to move again tomorrow.
