Day 37; Yes, we have clear weather....brilliant

Day 37 Tuesday 18th December

Yes, we have clear weather….brilliant

Position: S86.2647,W086.1679
Temperature: -15c to -21c
Weather: Clear, good visibility with low wind.

Snow condition, soft.

All the team were in great form to see the sun shine and to be able to see where we were going for the first time in 11 days. The storm had cost us valuable time and has eaten in to our food reserves. We were really doing well up to that and had built up our mileage to 25 to 27 km per day. But now for the last 7 days we are at a snails pace of under 20km per day. If this should continue we would be dangerously close to running out of food before we’d reach our goal.

We now pray for stable weather and it looks like we got it today. The snow conditions is still soft, but should firm up if this fine spell holds.

It was delightful to ski today and we completed 24.3km by days end.

We hope the weather will stay improved.

So good night, from us happy campers, Clare, Shaun, Jon and Pat
