Punta Arenas: Gear finished at last!

Punta Arenas: Gear finished at last!

It was a relief to finish with out gear; it is amazing that items from Ireland, the UK, Norway and the US have all arrived safely. We have just been notified that it will be weighed and collected at the hotel this afternoon, to be taken to the airport ready for dispatch onto the Illuyshin. It will remain in storage until we can fly – hopefully within the next few days.

Our total weight – 17 duffle bags, 3 ski bags and 4 sleds – worked out at 600kgs, which also includes 7 days rescue food and emergency equipment to be left at Patriots Hill.. hopefully we won’t need to call on this.

The team today are in very high spirits as our dream is about to become a reality.
