Punta Arenas – ALE Antarctic team briefing

Punta Arenas – ALE Antarctic team briefing

At 10am this morning we gathered at Club Croatia with ALE staff and other expeditions preparing for various adventures on the ice. There is an amount of logistical planning goes into this type of a business; being destined for the most remote place in the planet, procedures have to be put in place so that there is regular communication with base to minimise risks, adventurers comply with the strict environmental guidelines as per the Antarctic treaty and it was also an opportunity to meet new and old friends.

It was disappointing to hear that due to technical problems, the Illuyshin did not fly yesterday; this means the ground base staff are on standby for their flight and we will be delayed until they have travelled.
