Mitts, and a camera

I was last talking to Pat on Tuesday evening when they were having a rest day. He sounded in great form and confident. The hassles over the first week are now well behind them as they start another chapter in this adventure. Shaun and Jonathon are well also, being fairly good at the cooking, i’d say there are a few surprises coming out of there food rations soon enough. Anyway he said they will all charge ahead now after the rest day.

When discussing his frostnip, I could hear Clare shouting ‘Frostbite’ in the background which is affecting both thumbs and came from holding the tent in high winds and from the position of his hands on his ski poles. Pat being Pat he has talked it down.

He asked me to send down his ‘other’ Mitts from here!!

I was a bit taken back when he said “Go ahead, and throw in a camera as mine has packed in!!”

After racing around Killarney, I finally got a camera he would use, wrapped it inside the mitts and jiffy bagged it to Punta Arenas, Chile. It will make its way on to a logistical flight to Patriot Hills, It will then board a ‘Twotter’(Twin-otter airplane) and then if they need a re-supply it’ll go with that or they might just do a low level drop on the team sometime next week.

I must say, I’m very interested in how long it’ll take or if it even happens, possibly faster than many postal services worldwide, Amazing.

The high polar plateau is few weeks away yet, the lower temperatures there are fairly savage as they approach the last 10 days to the pole. Hopefully Pat will get his Mitts and camera before then.

Stay tuned and thanks for following.
