November 14th

Trout for dinner tonight, food not always agreeable to me though most
seem to like it, hard to beat Kirbys in Ballinhassig! Frustrating day,
early breakfast 6-30 to 7-30 enabling the traverse crew begin their 3
day journey, as soon as they were transported ashore at King Haakon bay
the wind picked up, gusts of about 50 knots made it difficult and
possibly dangerous for the Zodiacs bring the rest of us ashore for a 3
hour landing, visibility was poor but we could see large Elephant Seals
and King Penguins from the boat, there was plenty birdlife including
Albatrosses, Petrels and many Prions.
At the moment we are heading for shelter to the north west of the
island, we are expecting calm weather from about 6am in the morning and
hope to make two landings, one in the Bay of Isles and later in Prion
Island where Wandering Albatrosses nest
