Elephant Island

Nov 22nd

Hi Folks

Anchored off Elephant Island at 5am this morning and caught a brief
glimpse of it thro the porthole before a thick mist descended. All
waiting anxiously to see if a landing will be possible. Watched the Ch 4
film on Shackleton last night – it was an extraordinary feeling to see
the view down over the whaling station of Stromness as we saw it from
the col some days ago . Also to see their landing on Elephant Island
knowing that we were soon to arrive there.
Fingers crossed we get to land.

Mary
