After a terrible night of almost falling out of the top bunk several
times, I got up at 6am. While up on deck I spotted my first penguins
swimming, it was very exciting.
During breakfast we spotting our first icebergs as we approach King
Haakon Bay.
Everyone dashed out to get the best spots for photographs. More and
more sightings of seals and penguins were reported. As the ship made
its progress further into the bay the icebergs became larger and took on
a brilliant blue/white colour.
Word was finally given that the traverse team could make their landing
to start their amazing journey. As they landed the excitement back on
board was growing as the time came closer for all of the support team to
make their first landing. The style of wellies knew no bounds from pink
stripy ones to my own stylish black with white paw prints. But then we
where all disappointed that the wind picked up and the Captain told us
that there would be no landings at present due to the movement of the
gangway.
We have spend the day waiting for a possible landing but the Captain has
just dashed all our hopes as the wind is still strong and the ship is
just going around in circles!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry have nothing more exciting to report but it’s been a day of fancy
wellies, excitement, disappointment and green soup! yummy
